Questions & Answers 6

Questions and answers of the customers

  1. Q I am having trouble threading the fitting that I purchased from you. The threads only go about a quarter of the way in and then I am unable to thread anymore. What do you recommend?
    A All of our threaded connections are NPT (National Pipe Thread). If you are having difficulty connecting the fittings securely there are a couple of possibilities.
    • You may some other type of threading than NPT. BSPT looks similar but they are not interchangeable
    • Threading on either our fitting our existing fittings may be damaged. Inspect both sets of threads to make sure all threads are clean edges
    Please don't hesitate to reach out for additional help.
  2. Q Does this item come Electropolished?
    A

    As standard, this item is not electropolished.  We are able to offer that service for an additional fee, however.  It should be noted that we outsource the electropolishing of all items.  This process will add to the time that we can deliver items to you.

    For more information, please contact us.
  3. Q Can you tell me if a 1.5" Tri Clover Compatible X 1.5" Female NPT would be able to connect to the bottom of a sink strainer basket?
    A As long as your connection is male threaded NPT this connection should mate up properly.
  4. Q What's the difference between NPT & NPS threads?
    There are no answers for this question yet.
  5. Q What's the difference between NPT & NPS threads?
    A
    NPS = National Pipe Straight
    NPT = National Pipe Thread
    Both NPT and NPS have the same thread angle, shape, and pitch (threads per inch). However, NPT threads are tapered and NPS threads are straight (parallel). Both threads have a 60° included angle and have flat peaks and valleys.
    Tapered Pipe Thread is commonly found on ends of pipe, nipples and fittings (i.e. couplings, elbows, tees, etc.). Note: Sharply angled threads are very critical to joint being tight with no leaks. Thread sealant or tape is typically required to complete the seal. Straight Pipe Threads need a gasket or O-ring to create a seal.
    While NPT and NPS threads will engage, they do not seal properly with each other.
  6. Q Do you offer different clamp x NPT size combinations like 1 1/2" x 2"?
    A Different size combinations are available however these items are not stocked and the typical lead time for these products is about 1 - 2 weeks. Please call us for special orders and we'll let you know what we can do for timing and pricing. Thanks!
